Hikers should also try the 19km long trek through its center, known as the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

There a lot of thermal springs, mud pools and geysers are in the area, making it one of the country’s top outdoor tourist spots. Also, don’t forget to visit The Wai-O-Tapu nearby, famous for its hot springs and their colorful appearance. The smell of sulphur is an indication of thermal activity that is evident in the region.
